House of My Mind

1.  This project was based on self reflection.  I enjoyed using textures I found at the beach, such as sand. water, grass, and driftwood.  I chose the beach and letters as a theme in all of my pictures because I often spend time in Mendocino, where my family as a house.  It is my favorite place in the world, and I wanted to convey my appreciation of the Northern California coast and how it relates to me to the audience.

2.  I am mostly satisfied with how my pictures came out.  I wanted to convey the emotions that I feel whenever I take a trip up the coast, and I was mostly successful at doing that.  In one or two of these pictures, I feel like this sense of tranquility and purpose didn't quite come through.  However, I think I grew immensely as an artist because I have developed an eye for what images and colors look good together, what would make a good overlay, et cetera.  I also learned how to use masks in Photoshop to enhance my images.  I feel like I as well as my peers learned a lot from this project as we gave each other advice, and saw what worked and what didn't.

Transforming Material - Digital Images

1.  This project was based on using mundane materials in a way that makes them more intriguing.  In the digital images, I focused on cupcake papers and tin foil.

2.  I feel like my digital images were not very successful.  I am not very happy with how they came out because I didn't convey my ideas in the way I envisioned them.  However, my film pictures turned out somewhat better.  In one of the pictures, I used a collection of mundane items to make a still life, and in other pictures, I used glitter in and out of focus to create an interesting subject.  In this project I learned to be more creative with how I use textures, but I feel like I could've put more effort into the digital images, with which I lacked inspiration.
